June 2026 Books

Cherry Baby by Rainbow Rowell - I really liked this story that explored second-chance romance and also what it means to love and accept yourself.

The Burning Side by Sarah Damoff - What a heartrending and beautiful story about a family system and how we tell our own stories about how we got here. I loved her first book and this one also held up to that - she's a great writer.

Off the Record by Sara Goodman Confino - Like all of her books, it featured a spunky Jewish woman at its core and I did love that. The story wasn't my favorite of her books, and the ending did seem a little farfetched....but overall enjoyable.

Next Stop by Benjamin Resnick - I literally have no idea what this book was about, why it exists, or how it got published. I honestly kept reading because it was like a trainwreck I couldn't look away from and I kept hoping it would redeem itself. Spoiler - it does not. Strange, confusing, and frankly, unnecessary.

A Pair of Aces by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray - Loved this one! A story of two totally different women (a DA and a brothel madam). Both are real historical figures and I liked the "what if" idea that they may have met (that part is total speculation on the part of the authors).

This is a Love Story by Jessica Soffer - This MIGHT have been a better story but the writing style totally threw me off and I disliked it immensely. And based on other reviews, I'm not alone. I appreciate something unique, but the use of second person really irritated me and ruined the story for me too.

Mrs Lilienblum's Cloud Factory by Iddo Geffen - Very quirky and strange, but also an interesting story that kept me going. I feel like I need to discuss this one with a group to decide how I feel about it.

The Calamity Club by Kathryn Stockett - Loved this epic novel bringing together strong, resourceful women in an era when women didn't hold a lot of power. It's long but it flew by and I couldn't put it down. Definitely worth the read!
