Independent is actually not a strong enough word to describe my daughter.
She is very committed to putting on her own clothes and this particular day, she could not figure out how to put on the shirt, but would not, under any circumstances, allow me to help her. Finally, she put her legs through the head-opening and pulled it up to her chest. Then she managed to get one arm into a sleeve....and then I snapped this picture because I just couldn't resist!
(and then I helped her the rest of the way....)
I want to raise a strong and independent daughter. I want to make sure that she knows her way in the world and holds her head up high and can handle whatever life throws at her.
But the journey....oy vey.
See more (much greater) photos here....Happy Monday!

Oh man! That is really quite cute.
Adam likes to put his coat on upside down, and honestly, I do leave it sometimes. I don't want to do everything for him, and I want him to be a strong man... but... they have such strong wills, you know?!
Oh boy have we btdt that LOL. One memorable evening a few years ago both kids were crying bitterly - Itai because we refused to put his pajamas on for him (he was quite capable of doing it himself) and Maya (who was not at all capable of doing it herself) because she'd insisted on doing it herself and had managed to get herself horribly tangled up in her pajamas - but would not allow any of us to help extricate her.
Ahh, parenthood...
LOL. I think I'm in for it. Miriam is already "me doing" (w/out the phrase) at a year old! She gets to mad when we feed her, she has to do it herself! Oy the mess, and she is always still hungry because very little makes it into her mouth if it is something like casserole or soup.
That shirt is too cute for words, btw.
How precious, indeed. A mind of her own, which is a good thing...
The journey... oy vey. Now that just about sums it up!
*smile*
Determined lil one you have there.
that is too funny -- what a great monday morning laugh!
Love that retro-Flashdance look! :)
I like her fashion statement! How funny. I so understand that journey.
Gosh that is funny! Good for her...and you!
As they get older, part of my goal is teaching my children that independence includes knowing how/when to utilizing your resources... including your parents.
