Parashat Chayei Sarah...in Haiku

Sarah was real old -

one-hundred-twenty-seven.

She died. Abe was sad.

Abe wanted to buy

A burial site he found

Ephron wouldn't sell.

Abe appealed for help

The Hittites interceded

So he paid in full.

Abe buried Sarah

In the Cave of Machpelah

And he mourned for her

*technical note, he actually mourned before he buried her.

But it worked better this way. Sorry

Isaac was ready

A nice wife was to be sought

A servant did go.

At the well he looked

He asked God to help him out

Which girl draws water?

Rivka filled her jug

And he knew this was the girl

For Ike to marry.

To meet Ike went she
Love at first sight...he took her

for his wife, with joy.

Abe married again

Keturah was his new wife.

And they had some sons.
