Getting Myself in the Pictures...

I have made a personal goal to get myself into more of my pictures.

I've started to accomplish this in two ways...neither of which yield particularly spectacular pictures, but manage to get me in the picture without handing the camera to my husband and saying "Take my picture!" *Examples are from my recent trip to Israel.

One: I hold the camera at arm's length and take my own picture.

Me, with a cute little snowman in Jerusalem!

This is me, on top of Masada.

(See another example here.)

Two: I take pictures of my feet, my shadow, or my reflection...personal documentation!

Me, in the individual screen on the airplane...

My feet (and my brother's) in Jerusalem.

In the Valley of the Communities at Yad Vashem, Israel's Holocaust Memorial Museum.

My feet on the Golan Heights

A meeting of Quilters (including me) in Tel Aviv!

How do you get yourself in the pictures?
This is what works for me!

It is so interesting to see you in all the places I visited also!

Excellent way to include yourself in the pics :)

I especially like the shadow effect on the Yad V'shem picture...

The children's memorial at Yad V'shem will haunt me until the day I die.

That's a fantastic way to get yourself in the picture, and they turned out great, too.

I love the snowman one!

I too want to get myself into more pictures. If anything should ever happen to me I want my children to be able to remember what I looked like and right now pictures of their mother are few and far between.

How fun. I sometimes use my camera's timer and a mini-tripod.

Love the idea. Plus the pictures come out very artistic!

I have the same problem. I looked for a picture of myself to put in my toddler's photo album for her to carry around and chew on and I COULDN'T FIND ONE. Note to self: Take more pictures of me!

Those are great! You should check out the 365Days group on Flickr. I didn't make it through the full year, but it's a fun idea!

That is such a great idea. I am usually the one behind the camera and not in front of it.

I am going to be doing this!
PS- I want to go to Israel so badly. One day I hope God blesses me with that!

That's a wonderful idea. I have so many pictures of family vacations, etc... where it looks like I wasn't even there because I was always behind the camera.

I love these!!

I am in so few pictures that I told PC that he needs to be the official photographer on Mothers' Day so that I get into pictures at least once a year.

Great idea...but not in the execution!!

I have started letting my children take the camera and take some pictures of me. Even my 2 year old is doing a really good job. We're just careful what kind of ground is underneath. Make sure you have carpet, grass or other soft material. Not concrete or hard woods.

What fun photos! At Disneyland last week I was waiting in line with my daughter to see Buzz Lightyear and taking practice shots of us at arms length--thankfully the woman behind us took pity on me and offered to take our picture! So happily accepting the help of strangers gets this mom in the picture!
